Connecting to the VM-3100Pro
Use the following procedure to set-up the AE-7000 for use with the VM-3100Pro: 1. 2. 3. With the power off to all devices, connect the VM-3100Pro to the AE-7000 with the R-BUS cable. Turn on the AE-7000, then the VM-3100Pro. Press CLOCK SOURCE on the AE-7000 to select R-BUS as the sampling clock. Press the SYSTEM/CONTRAST button. Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select INTERNAL. Press LEVEL METER to exit.

The AE-7000 is an interface unit for use with digital devices conforming to 4-route (8-channel) AES/EBU standards, including ProTools� and other high-end digital recording equipment. The AE-7000 interfaces AES/EBU equipment with devices equipped with Roland´s R-BUS technology, found on select V-Mixers and the VSR-880 Digital Studio Recorder. Features include: � AES/EBU interface box that converts standard digital signals (up to four routes/eight channels) to R-BUS signals for use with select V-Mixers and the VSR-880 Converts 8-channel digital output from R-BUS ports to AES/EBU standard digital signals 24-bit I/O for pristine sound quality

Connecting to the VSR-880
Use the following procedure to set-up the VSR-880 for us with the AE-7000: 1. With the power off to all devices, connect the VSR-880 to the AE-7000 with the R-BUS cable. 2. Turn on the AE-7000, then the VSR-880. 3. Press CLOCK SOURCE on the AE-7000 to select R-BUS as the sampling clock. Set up the VSR-880 as follows: 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Hold down SHIFT and press SYSTEM. �SYS SYSTEM PRM?� will appear in the display. Press ENT/YES. Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select SYS MasterClk=INT. Press ENT/YES to confirm the setting. Press PLAY/DISPLAY to exit.

Connecting to the VM-7000 Mixer
Note: To connect the VM-7200/7100 and the AE-7000 via R-BUS, a VM-24E I/O Expansion Board (sold separately) must be installed in the VM processor. 1. With the power off to all devices, connect the VM-7200/7100 to the AE-7000 with the R-BUS cable provided with AE-7000. 2. Turn the power on the AE-7000 first, then the VM-7200/7100 processor. Wait for the VM-7200/7100 control status to change to green, then turn on the VM-C7200/C7100 console. 3. Press CLOCK SOURCE on the AE-7000 to R-BUS to set the sampling clock. Set up the VM-7000 as follows: 4. Hold down SHIFT and press PROJECT on the VM-C7200/C7100 console. 5. Press the DOWN cursor to select the second row of the SYSTEM MENU. 6. Press F1 [DIGITAL I/O]. 7. Press the DOWN cursor to select WORD CLOCK SOURCE. 8. Use the V1 knob to select INTERNAL. 9. Press F1 [SET] to confirm the setting.
